Pet owners in Claremore City Limits are required by ordinance to have their pet licensed. The licenses are available for purchase at the Claremore Animal Shelter at 815 Ramm Road. The pet owner must provide proof of current rabies vaccination and pay one of the following licensing fees:
$5 for each dog or cat that has been spayed or neutered (must provide proof of sterilization from veterinarian).
$20 for each dog or cat that has not been spayed or neutered with intact permit (Intact permit purchased yearly. Intact permit is $100 the 1st year and $75 each following year the animal remains unaltered).
These are 1-time only fees; all city-issued licenses are good for the life of the animal.
City ordinance allows for 5 pets per household, no more than 3 of which can be dogs. Vendors and breeders may apply for a Commercial Animal Establishment permit. The application must be notarized and accompanied by cash, money order or cashier’s check. An application processing fee of $20 shall be assessed for the initial application. The permit fee shall be $50 annually.
A background check will be conducted to determine if the applicant has been convicted of animal abuse or cruelty charges in the past 10 years. You will be notified of acceptance or denial within 30 days of the application date. Check city ordinances for details on what type of animals are permitted.
Hobbyist Exemption Permits
Hobbyist Exemption Permits are available for pet owners who have more than 5 specialized animals (such as hunting, service, rescuer). A $50 fee will be charged for the initial permit. Each subsequent renewal shall be $10.
