I went to a meeting of the Claremore planning board. Got there and only the people putting in a petition for raising reptiles were there. Came back in 10 minutes and the meeting had already started, It seems the Board and "concerned" citizens can as a group. The board heard Mary and one other person to grant the request to raise reptiles. I was denied the right to speak. Then one of them said there will be no debate since the board had already made up its mind. It seems like before the meeting. So I a resident of Claremore and veteran of 1st Cav in Baghdad was prevented from speaking. Second instead of voting for the permit it was worded as a resolution to deny the permit. 3 voted yes and two no. No reason just a quick vote and adjournment. The entire meeting was a joke. I talked to the planning board and they were RUDE. Not wanting to answer direct questions, finally got who voted how. They misrepresented themselves as city council leaving up the council members and mayors signs.

They could put plows on garbage trucks. It should not cost too much and having people stuck in their homes costs the city money. Yes people can have 4 wheel drive SUV's but they do not know how to...

Yes people can have 4 wheel drive SUV's but they do not know how to drive in snow and ice and end up blocking the streets. Keeping the streets passable is a responsibility of the government. Of all of the places I have lived city services are sparse.

All across our fair town the roads and sidewalks are substandard. Then if there are sidewalks the residents refuse to use them. I came too close to a pair of young ladies with their children. They were wandering down Sioux not paying attention. Walking down the center of the street is not healthy. There is a sort of sidewalk available. Why can we not do better? We complain about fat people but make it difficult to safely walk. I propose that the city come up with a plan of upgrading all streets and sidewalks to national standards. We need to develop some civic pride and not act like a third world nation. This will save the people money in the form of less vehicle repairs. The city needs to stop the deterioration of neighborhoods while at the same time expanding. Let’s make the City of Claremore one of the best places to live! The home of Will Rogers needs to be second to none.

Though I'm not privy to economic data for the city, it seems that there is a draw from both our area, and our surrounding area (Foyil, Sequoyah, Verdigris, etc) that could see a high demand for two companies to woo to come to Claremore:
Aldi and Dollar Tree
Both companies focus on low-cost merchandise and food, which seems to be an area that Claremore needs more options for.
Dollar General, Wal-Mart, and Warehouse Market are the only providers I see in Claremore that offer any low-cost options for items in these genres. Both of the other stores could greatly expand the options to Claremore and supporting area shoppers, thereby keeping more money in Claremore.
I believe that the BEST location to offer up to both of these organizations would be the former Drug Warehouse location. Square footage-wise, it seems to be pretty consistent with the footprint that each of these stores have in other communities.
I would be happy to assist in any way; I've been a Claremore resident my whole life
